East Central, Nebraska | i had the exact same thing happen to me about 5 years ago. i would say the PA is on the right track but a visit to the ENT doctor is the way to go. they gave me a pill that doubled the dose of the prilosec and had me take it twice a day. so as i had it figured 4 times the daily prilosec rate.
as i understood it the acid reflux was so bad that i couldn't feel it anymore and so the next result was a constant sore throat. they ended up scoping me to check for cancer and luckily it hadn't gone that far.
i think when you go to the ENT doctor and they explain this being undiagnosed the next step is cancer treatments that will quicky sway your opinion about not taking medicines as it did mine. at the very least they will make it clear its nothing to mess around with. i took the ameprizole (no idea if thats how its spelled) for the time they said to and got better. im now down to taking the entire prilosec treatment only a few times a year. ive eased back into the tomatoe based foods, trying to avoid alcohol was huge and what i learned most is it comes mostly down to my weight. its too bad that is happening that early in life to your son but it can be fixed and it has to be before its too late.
