Subject: Late 60's

Pittsburg, Kansas
When I was in high school in the late 60's we had a guy in our scuba club (Jayhawk Divers) that did gold mining in Alaska. Used a dredge in streams and hookya diving rig to run the suction hose. Little small engine air compressor to supply air via a hose to the regulator.

My older brother was going to go up and do it with him. Got married instead, LOL.

Name was Scooter Anderson. He went to Alaska originally to work on pipeline and ended up staying. But he would come back home (sometimes flying his small plane) once or twice a year with stories. One time gave everyone at the meeting a tiny vial with a few flakes of gold in it.

He was kind of a bigger than life kind of guy to us rural Rubes. Lots of stories.
