I have some pretty similar memories.... Yeah, preparation is a big difference and you are on the right track.

Takes a little more of a time commitment than simply putting stuff in the crock pot, but if you want something to change it up with roasts on a lazy weekend day give this a try. I mean, you can't go wrong with adding bacon to anything....
