Driftless SW Wisconsin | littlejo - 12/17/2024 12:55 Don’t hit me—I know nothing about corn! Vit A, calcium—protein in alfalfa. Adequate protein, lotsa energy in grass. Should compliment each other. What’s the corn for? And don’t it take different “bugs”? Agreed - a lot of good grass, some alfalfa, a mineral-lyx barrel to make up missing trace nutrients, a salt block, good water and you (the OP) will produce healthy, growing stockers, maybe called "green", that buyers will fight to buy and at a minimum cost (assuming you have good grass hay) to you. Let those calf rumens do their job and those stockers won't be likely to have liver abscesses, a big source of lost profits in the commercial beef industry (ref Drovers).
