I was way off on the price $2,320. Looking at the bill I noticed it’s a 3/4 horse pump. 14 GPM well. Gonna try a new pressure switch maybe? If I have to call a well service to come out would a higher hp pump help?
A 3/4 hp pump should be enough for 14 gpm at 100'. We never set a 1 hp unless we were over 150', but we always had 10 gpm pumps. Used 1/2 hp down to 100'. Hopefully your well guy knows the drawdown for your well, if it's pulling down right to the pump I suppose that 3/4 could be reaching it's max.
My first thought when you said you get a burst and then it slows down would go along with that. Or the bladder in the tank is ruptured. Where is the pressure switch? On an oil line in the pitless unit I assume? This might not be in your budget, but I would move that tank into the house.
Get a pressure gauge on the hydrant close to the well. Watch it while you have someone open another hydrant. I never liked working on systems with a buried tank. Too many variables when a guy had trouble. |
