Alton, Ia | We have one well with high iron, we have a hydrogen peroxide system for it. 55 gal barrel in pit by well, small dosing pump tied into pump controller, a 1/4" plastic line runs all the way down well to pump, injects a little H2O2 whenever pump is running. Supposed to keep iron from forming into rust, flakes, buildup etc. Seems to work, whenever we run barrel empty we get filters plugged and hog barn nipple issues, and it is very possible we ran it for awhile without, coinciding with a new well pump install, so we don't let it run empty now.
Plumber tells me there are some cattle operations in my area that go thru a drum of H2O2 in a week, I go about 3 months then refill.
Here's an article with some info. There is quite a bit of info about it online. https://articles.excaliburwater.com/iron-bacteria-and-hydrogen-perox...
Am I understanding that your well is 2 years old, or you just redid the pump 2 years ago? | |
