I wouldn't be enthusiastic about it, but if you go ahead then I would suggest taking off the top soil, then taking a foot of clay, then removing the fill. You are likely to compact the remaining clay pretty hard, and putting a layer of loose clay back may help prevent some issues. Of course, if you negotiate a long term manure contract with him you will eventually get your dirt back.
