West Central Illinois | Go get some solid mouth and broken mouth early bred cows to calve out speing/summer. Sell the calves, pound the thin/crazy/bad uddered cows and rebreed the good ones with bull of your choice. Maybe keep a few heifers out of the good ones the 2nd year and boom you've got a cowherd. I've gotten burned too bad by buying what we're "fancy young cows". They were fancy amd expensive in the ring but they didn't look fancy on their ride to a brush pile dead on my loader.
Fescue is good grass if you know how to work with it, subdivide that pasture to at least 5 or 6 patches if you can depending on your water supply. You'll get way better quality of forage and wayyy more quantity. | |
