I like the above idea - - - except - - - I would hook up the watering system so its one point and then have no permanent paddocks just a great perimeter fence and use temporary fence for paddocks and everything leading to that watering point.
That's easier for haying and only 4 paddocks is controlled over grazing - - - you need at least 8 or 9 so you have enough rest time before regrazing.
I wouldn't expect the 4 paddocks to be sufficient. That just seemed like an appropriate halfway step between fully subdividing and not subdividing it. Several 20-acre fields aren't much less efficient for haymaking compared to a single 75-acre field, in my view.
Leaving everything wide open, and relying 100% on temporary fence, can work well with dairy cattle. But I'd want something more substantial to contain stockers on a smaller piece, if they start jumping the temporary fence. Rounding up a herd that's run wild across a 75-acre farm is a bit different than if they just got loose into a 20-acre paddock.
