Well I guess I'll be the lone voice of descension. I have several friends in KS and Neb that use them to track their bulls. They have far away section pastures that once the cows go there with bulls (often multiple bulls), they don't get seen much or very often. They've told me stories about how they can use it to monitor bull activity to see who is working and who might have an injury that needs checked on. I don't see much use for it for a whole cow herd, but on bulls it seems like a good application
I almost replied last night that I could see the value in putting a $150 tracking ear tag in a $5000 - $10,000+ bull, but I went to bed instead of typing that out.
Heck even some high dollar special cows could be justified.
So all this talk of ranching for profit,...
