Western Illinois | So I have had a Roto grind 1090 for five years. I bought it from a retirement sale for 10K. I have ran a few thousand bales through it and have not had any problems or breakdowns with it but now that I am trying to grind more hay, it seems like I can never get the capacity out of it that I would like, I have tried adjusting the hood on how big of a bite the mill will take and I have played around with the tub speed. Just always seems like I fight the bail feeding into the mill. I usually run the tub speed between four and six and I have the hood 75% of the way up. Seems like if it’s feeding in good I can grind a bale in 3-5 minutes or I can fight a bale and it might take 30 minutes. Try to put weight on it with the loader or lift/move bale around in the tub but doesn’t always seem to help. Just wondering if other guys have had issues with rotogrinds and what they have done. | |
