Subject: RE: Random pics of this fall

I bought the first McElroy fusion machine in the valley, when I talked BLM into using HDPE pipe. Had a couple of neighbors go in with me. Then we let out water/range rider on FS take to do installs on FS. He took machine over, would come do stuff for me. Well he moved on and bought a place in AZ. So I'm out a machine. Other neighbors have a socket unit, he runs with me, so he's been doing what little welding we need. I've been wanting to buy a socket unit, not done it. But started to using Hardco compression fittings for installs on drains and tie ins. So far no problems with them. Price is just about same money for weld or compression fittings. However for threads in troughs or supply cans we need a socket fitting unit.

The first weld machine when I bought it was $2,500. Now more than double. Honestly I think compression fittings and a socket unit will do every thing I need. Also since price of brass fittings for CTS pipe has went outrageous, been using the plastic Hardco or maybe another brand for CTS with inserts. Also have the Milwaukee crimp tool for Pex crimps. Have used it for all residential plumbing, some underground in valve work in 1" size. However been wrapping those crimp rings with a good PVC tape to protect them from our hot soil here.

Last bit of galvanized fittings I bought were cheaper than stainless. For a few years couldn't afford galvanized, so went to stainless. I hate using stainless on stuff I know we will have to undo in future.
