You also have to deduct the cost of putting shell corn in the bin, drying it or keeping air on it, pulling it out and processing it (grinding, cracking, whatever you planned to do with it) vs. earlage. Sure is handy loading earlage with a loader already "processed" vs. out of a bin at time of feeding.

Hiring it all done is obviously the expensive part of chopped feed but still a good way to get a high volume of quality feed put up.

I'd second the drive over pile also unless you need dairy quality feed. You'll have more storage loss but less cost into it and you'll get it put up faster.

What's the capacity of a bagger that size vs a SP forage harvester running in earlage assuming you have a way to keep up hauling? Will they handle that much volume? Your neighbor might not be happy with that custom rate if he's sitting idling half the day while a bag fills.
