Central Coast, California | Have there been problems on the fence that is there currently? Or is it just old? We run just straight barbed wire and I generally run my bottom strand 16 to 18 off the ground. I've never understood why people put a bottom strand 6 inches off the dirt because there aren't many animals that close to the ground that a wire fence is stopping any how. That way if you run your strands 6 inches apart a five strand is 40 to 42 tall.
I have a fence that crosses a seasonal river. We've tried smooth wire , field fence and about everything you can think of and they all collect the sticks and such so I don't make them anything special and just use the barbed wire I have on hand. |
