Sioux County, NWIA | Probably have to wait 2-4 weeks to bale. Whatever passes through the knife rolls will dry relatively quickly but the untouched stump will remain sopping wet for a long time. I used to shred all earlage before baling, but now I just wait it out, roll and rake.
It is a good idea to let bales set in the field several weeks before stacking. I’ve seen some bad things happen because stalk bales that weren’t super dry got shoved tight in a pile a day or two after baling. | |
