Alpena MI
I'm in a bit of the same situation as you are and I don't really have any good info. The question in my head is, how many more lbs of beef will the earlage make per acre vs corn and pellet? What I'm looking at is what happens to my cost of gain by moving away from corn and pellet? Can I buy less off farm product and where does added equipment and time fit into the equation? My nutritionist says any program will work if it's managed correctly so for now we just keep doing what we're doing I guess. We don't really have the means to expand drastically beyond where we are at with cattle on feed in the short term either so I haven't put much pressure on my nutritionist either.
