Eastern NE KS | Yes, with a to do to make it work well or good enough. If the situation was mine, I would supplement the stover with a balanced amount of protein supplement plus 10% more to settle my nerves. If the cows are in body condition 7+, then the 10% extra may be skipped.
My neighbor faced this last winter. He fed stover bales I rolled for him. He saved supplement for the animals in need and never ever allowed his cows go without corn stover. We will learn about breed up someday in the coming months.
