Having a cooling issue with our 494. New crate engine installed last fall. Ran fine for earlage and haylage. Heating under load in heavy corn silage.

So far, we’ve verified the temp sensor is working. Have about 6 hours in rad cleaning with air and water. Removed one thermostat & replaced the other one with a new one. Changed the water pump. No improvements. Runs basically to overheat in 2 loads. Currently pulling the radiator.


No direct experience with the Mercedes engine but - - - when everything else seemed good (thermostats, you changed the water pump) I'd think you have some tubes that are plugged in the rad.
I had a rad shop cook the rad and then reinstalled - - - ran fine. Can't think of what else it might be.
