We get it from our local brewery. IBC totes cut in half... up to 9 or 10 of those per week in the summer. 1 to 4 in the winter but it varies. I'm in town every day for work, so I go pick up the full ones and drop off the empty ones. Yes, it's mostly water but the cows and calves are addicted. It's very handy to round them up. When they hear the pickup door shut and the skidloader start, they come running. Calves are bunk-trained before weaning.

It's a lot of shoveling for us. We shovel it out of the totes into the snow bucket on the skidloader and go dump it in bunks to supplement hay or pasture. No rhyme or reason... just a treat for them.

Starts to ger pretty rank after a couple days, so we try to feed it right away.

We're doing a favor for the brewery and the exercise for wife and I isn't a bad thing. The cattle benefit and the beer fridge never gets low.

I have the parts to build a set of rotating pallet forks for the skidloader. That will be a game-changer for dumping the totes.

Long story short, if it's free and you don't have to go out of your way to get it, you can't go wrong.
