Subject: RE: Wet brewers grain

SW OH
I used to go every Saturday night and pick up wet brewers from a micro about 17 miles away. Widely varied in quantity from none this week to 750 pounds the next and everything in between. It was wet and heavy. I would feed it to 15-20 cows at a rate to be out by next Saturday.

I started with an IBC tote with the top cut out. To hard to pour in and scoop out. Then they bought 12 gallon storage totes that were OK, but the brew master would fill the full and stack 3 high. Most of them cracked, leaked the sticky liquid all over and made a mess. After that I supplied them with plastic 55 gallon barrels cut down to 16" tall with lids and handles.

My cows got nothing else but free choice hay. After 7 days in the summer it got a little rank but the cows still sucked it down quick. I was doing them a favor by taking. They had stories to tell about trying to put it in a dumpster before they found me. I would still be getting it today but they went out of business. Free beer on Saturday night was a plus as well.
