I feel like bean straw makes a firmer bedpack on dirt versus cornstalks. In my experience, it is a better base layer to keep the bedding from getting mushy and saturated when it rains or snows. It just takes a lot more acres to get the volume of bales. The bean straw will "clean up" muddy cattle when they play around in it since the straw is course, that is another benefit.
