Subject: RE: Knowledge on how to use Honeywell thermostat on grain dryer

Lahore, Pakistan
Have two of them in a gsi dryer. One controls the plenum temp. The other controls the drum at which the crop comes out based on temperature at the cooling section. So you set the plenum temp what you want and what that controls is a Honeywell Modutrol which is basically a motorized butterfly valve that controls gas flow. Don’t know how yours adjusts gas flow but on the Modutrol you can take off the lid and move the valve by jumping two wires. Open fully and close.

The other one runs the drum and senses a set parameter that the operator puts in. So if you are running 15.5 % out of the dryer and it’s been running say at 180 degrees you set that setting to 180 and run in auto. It controls the vfd to speed up or slow down the drum to match the output temp which in turn hopefully keeps your moisture consistent coming out of the dryer. As far as parameters on the Honeywell they really don’t have much programming done to them. Unfortunately I don’t work there anymore and so all my notes over the years are no longer accessible or I could get you a copy of the Honeywell controller book. Hope this helps a bit.
