Plug will normally work, but are hard to put in a semi tire. Patch is probably better but the combo ones are better yet. Just don't do what I did tried to boot one with the boots I had and found out the boot was for tube type tires and had to put a plug thru the patch to get it to stop leaking. Have gotten better boots since then.
