Thumb of Michigan | Ran a 9500 for many years. Ran both 920 as well as a 930' heads. Typically, we changed the sprocket on the cross drum to speed it up. I can't remember now how much larger it was, or how much the speed increased. It helped though. ALSO- we also changed the knife pulley to slow the knife down. Only way to accurately determine the correct knife speed (you I think have a choice of 3 different pulleys) is to look at the wear on the sections. If only the front 1/4 or 1/3 of the section shows wear, your knife speed is too fast. Ideally, the entire section should show pretty even wear front to back. | |
