Is your auger flighting edge ground pretty square?
This is a good point, the auger edge tends to wear and become rounded with use. This means the auger doesn't "bite" into the crop material like it used to. Using a grinder and making the edge "square" again might help. I've heard of folks driving lock washers here and there on the leading edge of the auger to improve the aggressiveness. Seems like I tried that some years back but I wasn't impressed with the idea. |
