I was talking more travel with the whole row unit. Some people put them on the 2 outside end rows on each side here so they can go down further on terraces that have a short front face. If you drive a little too high on some terraces, the end row comes out of the ground with the stock parallel arms. That’s one reason here though, I’m sure there are many others


If the fellows doing this have JD planters (and haven't modified the stops on the long arms) they aren't gaining anything.

This is true for newer JD planters anyway, the older planters may have been different.
