east central ND | What serial number D6c? The bit newer “10k” ones are a bit beefier machine than the older series of d6c.
What’s your plan once you get then tipped over? Cut them up? Root ball might be huge and hard to even move depending on your soil type. Heck, even tipping over the trees can be a vastly different experience depending on soils.
Pushing cottonwoods can be done with that cat. I’m not going to even try to give advice on how to do it. But be safe. It’s going to be slow going. Helps a bunch if you have lots of room to work, and the tree has a bit of lean to it already.
I used to have a 45,000 lbs trac hoe. Now I have a 60,000 hoe. Huge difference when getting into big trees.
I would rather use the hoe, than the old 1955 model year, 55,000 lb D8 I have…….but the old D8 is fun.
Way back when, the local cat operator did big cottonwood tree belts with an early 1970’s D8. 70,000 lbs and 300 hp?
