Faunsdale, AL | It’s probably why some of the tractors that got indifferent maintenance and were generally rode hard and put away wet lasted so long. The bottom line is they may not have been “rode” all that hard.
I know our 64 model had so much slack in all the throttle linkage pivots by the time it was a chore tractor that it only got to rated rpm with the foot throttle……..and woe betide the kid that was caught using that!
Sometime about 20 years ago I found the adjustment on the throttle tube to first linkage adjustment where you can get more travel out of the linkage by increasing the crank length. Got a little of it back that way I think. But no real need on, at that time, a 30+ year old chore tractor.
