One problem w/hooking direct to battery is your radio would be "hot" all the time. If truck is parked a couple days with the radio on, you might have dead batteries?
Also, just asking, but why fuse both the hot & ground side? I mostly use auto-reset circuit breakers in the fuse holders these days if they fit.
With "hot " all the time if the truck has an issue that needs to be shut off
the radio is still able to be used to call for help
not s bad any more but 30 years ago there was not as many people with cell phones
