Subject: RE: John deere tractor wiring brake light

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
What Deere tractor? The brake lights on the rear of my Deere 8310R itself go On/Off with the brakes. I noticed this when an operator was uses a a single or both brakes while maneuvering around in the dooryard. I also notice this if they touch the brakes to disengage the differential lock in the field. At first I thought this strange but have decided it is normal.

The 8310R is the newest of our Deere tractors. My Nephew's 7830 and possibly his 7700 might also. I don't believe any of the older ones have brake lights on the tractors themselves.

The lights on my drawn implements seem to operate as expected.

If the brake lights on my tractor would stay ON whether the brakes are being used or not, I would suspect a problem or need for adjustment in the brake light switch.

Somewhat along this line, my Great Nephew was checking over an older semi grain trailer yesterday in preparation for harvest. I was reminded that one but only one of his side marker lights stays on all the time even when his semi-tractor and trailer are just sitting. All other lights seem to behave as expected.

He said he thought it had something to do with the brakes. The draw from a single light is so light that it hasn't caused any grief in season. Since there are several side marker lights which I would assume should be connected in parallel with each other, it seems strange that only one is ON at all times.
