Subject: RE: Tool Shed quote

Some Amish groups can't own certain things but are allowed to use them. I had them build a building for me one time. I had to pay the father for the metal, one son for the trusses, one son for his labor, a cousin for his labor, the father for the youngest sons labor as he was to young to have his own money, one of their neighbors for delivering the trusses, the Amish lumber yard for post and lumber, another neighbor $20 a day per cordless drill, and others I my have forgotten. On top of this I had to carry a trailer the first day to pick them up and haul all their equipment to my job site, haul them home and back every day and on the last day haul all their things home. First thing they wanted when they got there the first day was somewhere to plug in their extension cords to charge the cordless drills. Can't have electricity but could use mine. I offered to drill the post holes and stand up the post to make it go a little faster and they were glad to accept the help. When I came home that day they had the tractor door open with the radio playing wide open. I thought I would never get done writing checks but the total of all the checks was less than the quoted price by a little so I guess it was worth it.
All this to say they get around the church rules by having you rent the tools and equipment they can't officially own but can unofficially use because it is not theirs.
