One problem w/hooking direct to battery is your radio would be "hot" all the time. If truck is parked a couple days with the radio on, you might have dead batteries?

Also, just asking, but why fuse both the hot & ground side? I mostly use auto-reset circuit breakers in the fuse holders these days if they fit.
