| In the over the road trucking industry it’s super common for brokers to book loads for new trailers needing picked up from the factory. The broker has you pick up the trailer and then it’s yours to use for 10 days- 2 weeks but at the end of that time it needs to be delivered to whoever bought it. So you’d go to wabash national in Lafayette Indiana and pickup a new trailer, haul whatever you want for the time specified and try to end up close to whoever bought it at the end of that time. I always assumed in those situations though that the buyer of the trailer knew their trailer would be used, I wouldn’t be super happy if I was in your situation though. Our last round of new reefer trailers had one end up in Wisconsin. It was made in Brazil Indiana, was supposed to be picked up by us in Indianapolis, the other 3 trailers were in Indy. We went for the 4th trailer and it was no where to be found, it somehow got delivered to a dealer in Wisconsin rather than Indy. We always wondered if they hauled a load with it, but our salesman cut the price on that trailer, I’m not sure how much though, it was several years ago. | |
