Maybe structure the contract where the cost of repairing any major failure on the trade in tractor would be split 50/50.  Say the engine has to be overhauled.  The tractor would then be more valuable to the dealer with a fresh overhaul.  The customer would have had to pay the full cost if they had not been trading.
