Subject: RE: Bin floor support

Nw Iowa
I have had to fix a support a number of times over the years as we had put floors in 7 49’ bins and we made a few mistakes, usually one got slid further than it should or one didn’t get latched correctly and tipped over or one too far from wall. . What I have done is cut a hole just big enough in the floor plank without cutting the formed part which is the strength, for a small hyd Jack and support which you can squeeze together slightly . Than move the jack enough so you can get support in and still get Jack out after support is in. Than Jack up floor enough to get more room under floor to tip up the support, jacking on the formed part or put a angle iron and Jack up a couple of floor planks at once. than let down, pull Jack out and make a patch out of extra flooring by trimming the edges off. Than some self tapping screws. On the edge it is harder as you can’t get floor to move as much but generally can get floor up a inch or so to get support in. Not much fun, I usually put duct tape around hole so I don’t cut my arms while working in such a small hole. Sometimes a spot doesn’t show up for a number of fills. Surprised last week on a spot that showed up after 7 years. Over years I have probably done 6 or 7 like that and never have any trouble with the sweep or floor settling again.
