Subject: RE: Old iron parade

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
There were a "pocket" of MM diehards around my area. A young man purchased the Moline dealership and I worked for him Summers while going to College. This was in the era of the G-1000's and Moline Combines (actually Cockshut painted yellow).

Back in those days none of the majors had floating cutter bars for soybeans so third party companies such as Hart Carter and others came out with a floating cutter bar conversion. I got in on installing many of them on Moline bean heads.

I also worked for the local California Packing Company canning factory. They used G-1000 LP tractors on pull-type pea combines.

I remained good friends with the dealer and his brother who was my age. The dealer unfortunately lost the dealership due to several compounding issues. He became an instructor at a local Vocational School and collected many farm related items. He had one of the few MM UDLX tractors in existence. He had it fully restored. This friend died some years ago and the tractor was sold on his auction. I forget what it brought but it was considerable.
