Subject: RE: Custom silage chopping problem

We've turned in 3 major repair to machinery that we're caused by foreign objects in the field. One when a field cultivator sweep went through the combine when cutting beans. Repair bill was over $10,000 . Ins company even offered to pay the cost of a rental machine. Other two were in the $5,000 range each. Still with the same ins company & they never raised the premium. One was custom combing beans for a neighbor, ran the disc leveler off a AA bar through the head. Broke arm on the feeder drum, feeder chain & ripped a slot in the bottom of the feederhkuse. He lost it the year before. He never offered to pay anything on the repair bill. That was when I decided to get out of the custom business. Also have turned in several windshield claims on tractors, had 2 on the same tractor in 1 month, as well as trucks & cars. JMO, as long as I'm paying for insurance I'm going to use it. No different than health insurance, if you get sick you use it, otherwise why carry it.
