South Central Illinois

From what information that I can gather about the Hot Start.
On a stick welder it is helpful to get the arc going.
It is a higher power setting for a moment while the stick welder is establishing the arc.
So maybe it is a higher power setting for a moment on the wire welder also.
Apparently it is desirable for thick steel.
Apparently on the lower power settings for gauge steel it is problematic.
So maybe a switch would be more helpful than a wire cutter?
Seems like an external switch would be better.
Maybe some welders have these?
