Faunsdale, AL | It’s available, not really terribly expensive a couple years ago when I checked. Problem here is how long it’ll take to get it done.
I didn’t pull the trigger on that job so I don’t know for sure but it took nearly a year to get a 531 John Deere block, rods, crank and head out of the shop that everyone I know says is the only place that does that kind of work anymore. That block just needed cleaning and the mains align honed, not the cylinders bored of course. Crankshaft was condemned so the rest of the job was the head and resizing/checking the connecting rods. I finally told the proprietor that I was coming to get my engine parts the next day, in whatever state they were in, so get them together and figure up my bill. They were driving cam bearings in the block when I was backing up to the door! | |
