Subject: ‘02 Honda 350 Rancher oil temp sending unit

Bloomfield MO
The fan on my recently acquired, 350 Rancher is not coming on. I pulled the wire going to the sending unit and went to ground, on the frame and it turns on. Perhaps the sending unit is bad or the connection was bad so, I cleaned the connection and applied dielectric grease. Let it idle for 10 minutes, with oil already warm before this and fan still didn’t engage. I had read where folks who had the same issue, just ran the wire to ground on the frame and fan stays running continuously, when the key is, “on”. How long or how hot does oil have to be, before the fan engages?
