Subject: Tu-Flo air brake compressor 4900 International

Western Illinois
1990 4900 grain truck with 466 engine and a belt driven air brake compressor. Everything works fine except at around 500 hours it needs to be replaced due to crankshaft/bearing wear. Oil flow and pressure have been checked and are good. Currently on the third compressor since owning the truck.

Trying to figure out if this is normal for the truck and it’s use or if there’s something that we’re missing. Reman compressors have been Bendix. At this point my only thought is the number start/stop cycles.

The first total failure vented the side of the compressor. :(
