Subject: Removing tractor or combine tires from the rim

Southeast Nebraska
So during Covid we out of necessity started fixing our own tractor tires, specifically the drive tires, have even done some semi tires. Typically this amounts to breaking the bead on the outside, pry the tire bead over the rim, break the bead on the other side, drag the tire over, pull out the tube, replace/patch and or patch the tire. Reinstall and remount. This is all with the rim mounted to the equipment.

Have done this all probably 25 times in the last 4 years.

Where failure sets in is when I need to pull the tire completely off the rim. Right now I have a combine drive tire (large) with a blown sidewall and despite my efforts I can’t get the inside bead up and over the outside ring of the rim. It’s just like I can’t get the spoons where I need them to even begin to pry up and over. Secret to success? Thanks in advance!
