Subject: RE: Novatel or Trimble? Fendt upgrade to RTK

Cedar Rapids, Iowa
FYI, Agco uses the NovAtel Smart7, which is the same hardware as the Ag Leader 7500. The receiver card in the Smart7 is the OEM7700, which is also used in the new CNH Vector Pro receivers.

The Ag Leader Z2 (and any Ag Leader hydraulic steering system) requires an Ag Leader branded receiver. They won't work with anything else. However, the Steady Steer (electric motor on steering wheel) will work with other receivers. We run a Steady Steer on a combine with a NovAtel receiver.

I'm sure I'm biased because I'm a NovAtel dealer, but I've been using their hardware since 2010 and it has been rock solid. NovAtel is very open about documentation and firmware updates compared to other receiver manufacturers.

Also of note - Agco is now part owner of Trimble Ag, which I think got rebranded as PTX. Agco will likely push the Trimble hardware more going forward for this reason.
