The wire is a little bit rusty.
Can feel, one side has rust and other side is slick.
How do I keep the wire from rusting?
Is there any type of jacket that I could put over the wire while it is not being used?

You know all those little 'DO NOT EAT' packs that are supposed to absorb moisture that you get in almost everything now days?

I put whatever wire that is not actually in the welder in a plastic bag with a bunch of those, and put a few in the welder compartment with the wire.

When you run out of those, a camphor tab wherever you keep the wire will prevent rust really well. It gives off a vapor that displaces moisture and the little tablets kind of dry out and turn to dust. Clean off the dust and put a new tablet every few months. $5 worth of the stuff lasts me a couple years.
