Subject: RE: 600 series flex

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
Somewhat along this line. My friend just purchased a used 9770 and 608C corn head. I have both of those myself. In looking at his yesterday, I noticed two small hoses from the single point connector went into a block on the corn head and then to the adjustable deck plates. My 608C has adjustable deck plates but does not have that block.

My friend said the salesman said it was so the head could work with some of the newer combines and that he could (should?) remove it since he was using it with a 9770 and that it was not necessary. I'm guessing the block is one of those locking valve blocks like I've seen on some pull-type sprayers. The valve blocks both sides unless pressure is applied which releases the lock. On the sprayer it kept the boom from creeping UP. Maybe that is needed here.

I have not had any problems with the fore/aft creeping on my 630F or now my 635FD and my 9770.
