I used a Bobcat 3-blade tree spade in hard dry sandy soil in July this year to move 1-3" trees. I liked that I was able to see around the tree quite well from the seated position.
The downside was the dry sandy soil sometimes meant the spade was lifting out of the ground relative to the depth it was in slightly less compacted soil. I have some trees that need a foot of fill around them and others that are 6-8" out of the ground.
I know on the skid steer they recommended using some sort of rear stabilizer jacks for the tree spade or tracks, I had an S66 that I was using. | |
