Coles County, Illinois | Since you post any thoughts: It appears to me that tire selection all comes down to tire contact area versus tire air pressure. Going to a lower floatation tire (less sidewall flex) requires higher pressure as the tire contact area decreases. This higher pressure increases shock transferred to the wheel components. I would think spindles and wheel bearings would have had to been oversized originally to handle the increased stress. Of older 300 bushel wagons only DMI's would I consider this. I'd try to find a Brent or similar 300 bushel wagon and see what hubs they were running and compare those to what I had. | |
