Slow combine down a bit. Let him match speed. Then load the cart. He keeps his speed.
Exactly - no radio or phone communication is needed with this approach. Combine operator can see cart, driver does not to be concerned about speeding up/slowing down to top off cart. Combine operator can do this easily. Always unload in a manner that the combine is empty on the truck end. Combine heads away with an empty tank and cart unloads even if it is just partially full.
I see operations where the cart gets full on the far end and the full cart is driven all the way back to the truck end. By then the combine is almost there and they repeat the process. Seems foolish to drive a full cart any further than necessary. Of course having rectangular fields and a bit extra cart capacity helps. |
