Subject: RE: Class 7 vs Class 8 Fuel Consumption

Camp Douglas Wi. 40miles nw of wi. dells
Have 9770 on tracks and 9870 straddle duals both 2011 models. Run 35’ grain heads. Run one 612 (12-22”) Bought 97 new, got the 98 in 2020. So 4 years running both in beans. In corn If fields are wet 97 , if fields are dry 98, if one brakes down the other goes on the cornhead. Pull a 500 gal fuel trailer to field every morning fill both along with cart tractor. Don’t have meter on fuel pump, wouldn’t matter cause we don’t care how much more the 98 burns, extra power is worth it. 98 has 50-60 bu bigger grain tank that’s handy opening up cornfields. Also 97 unloading full hopper of 24% corn on the go will grunt just a touch, 98 don’t grunt no matter if 35%. I think fuel consumption is very close per acre, but we don’t care enough to check it.
