Dad started with I believe a IH pull type with a 4 or 5 foot cut then went to a MH 48 clipper with a 6 foot cut w/ Wisconsin engine. He combined oats, buckwheat, red clover, maybe wheat soybeans and timothy IDK for sure. Then a MH 50 clipper with PTO did oats and barley, then a Case 600 self-propelled. The old combines gave just as good a sample as the new ones for the most part, just a lot less acres and quantity in a day.
